Why in the World?

I was doing this little questionnaire thing on facebook earlier. The topic was “firsts in your life”. One of the questions was name the first movie you could ever remember watching. Well immediately “Gremlins” came to mind. Although I think I remember my mother saying the first movie I ever saw was “E.T.”, however, I actually remember going to see Gremlins. It was 1984, I was 3. (yes 3) I went with my Mom and my MawMaw Wales. (This blows my mind that she went to this movie, and if any of you ever met my grandmother you’d know why) Something tells me I may have had something to do with the picking of the movie, because I cannot fathom why a mother and a grandmother would pick out this movie on their own. Well while we’re on the subject why would they listen to a 3 year old? Anyway, I don’t remember much about the movie. But the situation inside the movie theatre I do remember. We sat in the center of the theatre my Mom on one side of me and MawMaw on the other. My grandmother’s hands were over my eyes and my mom’s hands were over my ears and my hands were firmly pressed against my mother’s as if her hands weren’t blocking out the sound enough. I don’t know that we actually made it through the whole movie. My mom says we did but I have my doubts. But I bet we had people in that theatre cracking up.
